Sex Toys 101 and Beyond
The Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health is a non-profit organization located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The organization's niche is sexuality education with a mission to reduce sexual shame, challenge misinformation, and advance the field of sexuality. The center provides a community space where visitors may access educational resources as well as sex positive events. One of the current projects at the organization is the production of “Labcoat Cards”. These 4x6 cards are geared to educate medical students and doctors in residency on sexuality related topics, which are not covered in medical schools. Examples of such topics include gender terminology, asexuality, BDSM practices, and sex work. This summer Sidney had the opportunity to research, produce, and edit content for this project. Alongside this project she enjoyed organizing the center's library before dusting dildos and antique vibrators at the end of her shifts.
