Transcending the Boundaries of Your Major
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to study English literature. Whenever asked if I planned to go into teaching, I have always answered ‘yes.’ Until my internship this summer I never realized that my major could prepare me for anything more than academia. Working at a budding writing camp I was able to push myself into a world that I never imagined I could be a part of. More than my major, holding various positions at Mount Holyoke such as Community Advisor and captain of a varsity sport taught me how to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom. Despite officially being labeled as an education intern, I found a way to mold the position to fit the skills I found along the way.
