From ABC to NBC: The Untold Stories of a Legal Intern
What does a legal internship look like? For starters, nothing like a page pulled out of Shonda Rhimes’ new legal drama series, How to Get Away With Murder. For three months this past summer, I interned for the Honorable Cassandra T. Savoy. During my internship, I was exposed to different facets of law such as: Family Law, Criminal Law and Employment Law, among many others. Unlike what we see on legal drama shows, I had the opportunity to go “behind the scenes”. I was able to gain an in-depth look at the day-to-day responsibilities that the job of a lawyer entails and to learn invaluable work experience and skills that will help me excel in this respected field. As a legal intern who was and may still be seduced by legal dramas, I want to share my experience so that students who are interested in pursuing a legal internship can understand the realities of practicing law.
