Student Without Borders: Finding Legitimacy in Local Contexts
The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination is a governmental civil rights agency that handles cases of discrimination in employment, housing, and public accommodation. During my summer internship at the MCAD, I navigated the process of gaining public trust and legitimacy as a young woman of color and a non-U.S. citizen. After eight weeks at the internship, I gained a deeper insight into the violence and virulence of social injustice in the United States.
