In a New York State of Mind: Budgeting for NYC

I interned at the Office of Management and Budget in New York City in their Administrative Agencies and Elected Officials Taskforce during the summer of 2015. After stumbling a pun this internship with a brief look at my internship application process as a whole. My focus will shift toward my responsibilities and overall experience during my internship. The Office of Management and Budget oversees the entire budget of New York City. The kick off to my internship began with on the job learning. After a few weeks in my new environment I was given an additional individual project. This project was to preform an analysis on the possible impact if Obama’s Proposed Overtime Rule were to go into effect. More specifically I focused this analysis in relation to the agencies the taskforce oversaw. Our panel will further explore a spectrum of government related internships. In addition, it will illustrate the challenges of working within the constraints of the government. The panel will seek to explain the difficulties of working within government constraints.
