Educational Counseling: Helping Students to Navigate in the World

How do we get where we are today? As educators, how can we help our students go where they want to go? An Nguyen was able to answer these questions during her internship at the Olympia Schools, a private school in Hanoi, Vietnam that embraces both Vietnamese traditional values and global engagement. Working as the school counselor’s assistant, Nguyen aided students in their preparation for future paths as well as provided information in their transition to another culture. Through this internship, Nguyen learned to communicate and connect meaningfully to fully engage in the field of education. The panel will discuss the story of her internship, about how she was challenged, how helping the students navigate their future helped Nguyen in her self-discovery journey, and how she truly enjoyed the invaluable internship experiences.
