Artful Adventure: Interning at a London Art Gallery
What is it like to work in the fast-paced, beautiful, and often challenging world of art galleries? During the summer of 2015, I spent six weeks interning at Sims Reed Gallery in London, England, learning how to translate my passion for art history into a viable career option. Uncertain of what to expect, my time at Sims Reed was one of the most formative and positive career-related experiences I have ever had, resulting in my desire to pursue a career in related fields following graduation. In my presentation, I will discuss how my observations of what it is like to work in an art gallery compared with what my expectations were prior to my internship; for example, what is it really like to sell a work of art? What kind of work goes into putting on an exhibition?
