An Artist  on the Trading Floor

An artist I would vehemently agree, a politician I could fathom but a banker I could have never imagined. Each day as I interacted with senior level bankers and with clients, I would muse over the possibility of blowing my cover - fully exposing myself as not knowing it all and as one who had never wanted to work as a banker. Poised with my knowledge of over 50 economic theories and models, I took a chance on working as a Brokerage intern in a reputable bank in my home country - Ghana. On a daily basis I would monitor the trading terminal, track stock prices and assist in the execution of orders. As I learnt more about companies traded on the Ghana Stock Exchange, I also learnt about the challenges that the Exchange faces in operating in a relatively underdeveloped market. This is a telling of my discovery of self in an industry I grew to love.
