Brain Meets Brain: The Neurofeedback Alternative

Inefficient brainwave patterns are often at the root of some common emotional and physical challenges. Neurofeedback is a noninvasive way to approach these difficulties by allowing us to witness our brainwave patterns in real time. This training program guides our brains toward more efficient ways of functioning. Commonly, an electrode cap is placed on the patient’s head, and these electrodes “listen” to the electrical activity of various parts of the brain. Based on the amounts of different brainwave frequencies being produced, visual, auditory, and sometimes tactile feedback is given to the patient. Neurofeedback offers people of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, insomnia, ADHD, seizures, trauma, addiction, etc. an alternative to medication. This treatment has minimal to no side effects yet can create lasting changes. When given the chance to learn about themselves, our brains have an enormous capacity for change.
