Community Connections Abroad
Sri Lanka is a culture very different from the northeastern American culture in which I was born and raised. This summer I had various opportunities with diverse community outreach and travel in a culture that was brand new to me. The observation and interaction I had with the women teachers, the children with special needs, and the children without suitable home living conditions was the bulk of my work. The connections and the new broader perspective established were the most influential aspect of my internship in Sri Lanka. My focus in this presentation is the expanded worldview relationally and internally that I gathered through this experience. This presentation will highlight how my lens of the world was altered to expand my view of how community outreach works.
