Whether it’s a mental disability, history of incarceration, or homelessness, Goldie’s Care Homes aim is to provide independent living for those who need a push in the right direction. Bringing together people from various backgrounds with different stories, this presentation will examine my experience working with clients that have been diagnosed with mental disorders that range from bipolar disorder to schizophrenia and depression. As a result, these men and women have been ostracized and somewhat neglected at one point or another. Upon beginning my internship I, too, was naïve and thought that only deviance would surround me this summer; however, through daily interactions, I’ve learned that these clients are more than their diagnoses.
