Culture Matters: Making Corporate ‘Fit’
The corporate world is enticing: ambitious, suave, crisp and energetic. It becomes a target for many internship seekers, and the ideal towards which many hours are spent preparing for interviews, shopping for the right blazer, and practicing a convincing depiction of a super-human self. All efforts are directed towards becoming the perfect fit, and for fitting in well with 'Corporate Culture'.
But what is corporate culture, really?
The term today is not homogenous by any means, and Nestle and La Vie are two such examples, with the former being a Global 500 company (known fondly for its confectionery), and the latter, a brand-new-just-off-the-ground pharmaceutical startup in Lahore, Pakistan. As one might imagine, they’re quite different; and my experiences navigating their boardrooms and office-spaces this summer were crucial to my understanding of corporate culture.
