Somethings Are Better Left Experienced
This summer I interned at the Yusupovsky Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The museum is a former palace that belonged to the Yusupov family during Russia's Imperial Era. Initially, I was supposed to work alongside the senior administrator of the administrative department in the museum as a translator. Yet, somehow I ended up working in the research department of the museum. There, I did research on the Yusupov family and their extensive art collection, then reported back to my supervisor. However, things didn't run as smoothly as I anticipated. The start of my journey fell short of expectation filling me with doubt about why I was there in the first place. I went to Russia to get a hands-on experience of my field of study. Little did I know, there was something greater in store for me to learn. Despite the rough start, in the end I learned much more than I expected to, and what at first seemed like a nightmare, soon became the most remarkable experience of my life that expanded my curiosity in cross-cultural communication.
