Bolivian Healthcare: My Experiences Working in a Bolivian Clinic
This summer, I had two goals. The first was to practice my medical skills. The second was to do something good. While working in a clinic in Bolivia, I certainly achieved the first. The clinic I worked at mainly did preventative care. This meant vaccinating children, providing prenatal care and doing well child checks. We also did wounds care and provided ongoing care for the chronically ill. Many of the patients were children, or pregnant women. My role in the clinic was that of a nursing assistant. This meant that I did a lot of holding of babies, setting up vaccinations, taking vitals, answering questions, and delivering patient histories to the doctors. My presentation will talk about my experience in the clinic as well as some reflections.
