Coming Full Circle: Why Your Major Is Arbitrarily Apt

There is a circular relationship to every story. It is one where characters start in one place, go on an adventure, and return having somehow changed. My story is a personal anecdote on why the journey takes precedence over the destination. At the outset of my summer experience, I strove to prepare myself for law school. The ultimate goal to practice environmental law was largely intended to be in relation to my major. I began my internship with an airbrushed idea of wearing formal office attire, defending the public good and protecting the environment through law. The summer held many chapters, and I found myself immersed in varied projects under the mentorship of varied supervisors, including a Mount Holyoke alum. Though perhaps incongruous, it was through this internship, and the positive experience it brought, that nurtured a new path to environmental justice. I returned to MoHome more invested than ever in my passions, yet changed.
