Mathematical Modeling and Its Application in Tuberculosis (TB) Transmission
TB/HIV co-infection is a serious public health problem in many parts of the world and mathematical modeling can help to focus attention on strategies that might alleviate its burden. What would be the potential impact of enhanced diagnostic techniques for TB control strategy in an adult population with high HIV prevalence? I explored the specialized mathematical model which links to this question during the summer internship at Division of Tuberculosis Elimination of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this presentation, I will discuss the mathematical model of tuberculosis transmission, and experiences that shaped my summer at CDC.
