Education for Everybody: Breaking Barriers to Access

133 million young people all around the world do not have access to high-quality education. This astonishing figure implies that little or no access to high-quality foreign education for students is a problem of current interest in many developing countries. Russia is no exception. As a Global Communications Intern last summer, I helped an International Education Consulting company “Global Ambassador” in Russia in addressing this problem. While being a part of the Consulting Team, I conducted research on issues pertaining to international educational opportunities in Russia and prepared and led workshops on the issues of globalization, international education and cross-cultural communication for students. I also had the chance to work with marketing and PR specialists and participate in developing a regional marketing strategy for an internationally recognized English language test used for international admissions. Inspired by my colleagues, I took an initiative in generating advertising strategy by developing and selecting content for social media advertising platforms and supervising the production of publicity brochures. Through sharing my internship experience, I hope to show that bringing awareness to foreign education today can result in improving access to education all over the world tomorrow.
