Making It (Work) at Marc: Insights and New Goals After A Summer In Fashion

The idea of interning in the fashion world conjures up images of gleaming showrooms and stocked closets, running in high heels and following formidable bosses. My summer in the leather materials sourcing division of Marc by Marc Jacobs headquarters in New York taught me not only about the latest standards in handbag production, but about the work ethic and relentless attitude maintained by those who inhabit the fashion sphere full time. This presentation aims to discuss the impacts of the corporate hierarchy and workplace attitude on an outsider, as well as to draw on both the good and bad taken from the experience, and how they helped to re-define my career goals.
