Exploring a Career as an M.D.
Have you ever had someone tell you “no” or that you weren’t able to do something you’ve always had your heart set on? Did it ever make you feel as though you were inadequate or less likely to succeed? Through a temporary student position at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, I was able to explore my anticipated career path in medicine. I learned about the demands, the education required and the hospital environment. Overall, the experience broadened my scope of knowledge within medicine. Despite several obstacles as a student, I managed to take advantage of the opportunities on the outskirts of an administrative position in the Department of Medicine. This presentation will focus on my journey in this position and how it affirmed my medical aspirations. Ultimately, it will highlight the ability of one to persevere in light of challenges.
