Discovering New Career Interests from Experience
Moreen Tonny served as a Development Intern at the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA). GPFA is an NGO located in Monrovia, Liberia founded by 2011 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Leymah Gbowee. In that role Moreen worked on all areas related to fundraising and communications. On a daily basis, she assisted staff in managing communications, social media, in planning events. To better communicate the organization’s expectations to its beneficiaries, Moreen drafted policies for the foundation's various programs. She also interviewed scholarship recipients to collect data for future fundraisers. For Moreen, this experience was academically, professionally and personally enriching and eye opening.
