Jellyfish! Going Beyond the Tentacles: A Summer of Husbandry and Education
The Mystic Aquarium is a dedicated organization that provides its visitors with an education in marine biology and environmental studies through close encounters with aquatic animals. I had the opportunity to intern with the Fishes and Invertebrates Husbandry team as the jellyfish intern. As the jelly intern, I was responsible for the daily care of the jellyfish and an independent project where I attempted to establish my own culture of moon jellyfish. In addition to my own education in husbandry, I was able answer visitors’ questions about animals and discuss pressing environmental issues that are impacting our planet.
