The Benefits of Being in Corporate Benefits

This summer, I interned at Adidas group in the benefits department. As a benefits team member, I spent my days assisting employees with all of their employee benefits, like leaves of absence, educational assistance, and childcare. The largest portion of my time, though, was dedicated to healthcare. I triaged issues with individual employee’s insurance plans, answered their questions, and educated them about their options. I was surprised about how much real work I was given. I entered and scrubbed data for large-scale benefits audits, and I was given the authority to evaluate requests for new benefits. I was present in meetings where we discussed the changes in plans for the upcoming year, and I was an active participant in real insurance decisions, both on the level of individual employees and for the employee population as a whole. In my presentation, I will reflect on my biggest accomplishments and struggles during my internship, why this experience was so fulfilling for me, and what new skills it has afforded me.
