Neuropsychological Assessments: Seeing The Child Not Just The Disability

America provides a free education to all students, but what if a child is struggling to learn in that environment? Many Americans struggle in school and never receive the help that they need. This summer I was part of a team that helps students of all ages better understand their learning styles and strengths. By better understanding strengths and weaknesses, a school can better accommodate the needs of the students. For many students, to receive accommodations in school, they need a diagnosis from a Neuropsychologist, this comes to the school in a report with many recommendations. Every student has different needs and different strategies can help in different ways. This presentation will explore a variety of strategies to help students, particularly students with learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, executive functioning disorders and anxiety, succeed in a classroom environment and beyond.
