Cultivating Connections: The Importance of Building Bridges One Like at a Time
Clicking 'like' on a picture of your friend, sharing a link on your wall, or reposting something on Instagram, may seem like nothing but these actions have a huge impact in the world of marketing. The cultural and economic survival of non-profit organizations rely heavily on the use of Instagram, Pinterest and other social media platforms. Cate Cantler discovered this while working as the Development and Marketing intern at The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, a non-profit based in Amherst Massachusetts. She began her internship with the goal of expanding the museum's social media presence while redefining its online voice. By doing research, consulting with her superiors, and curating artistic media, she successfully created a more accessible online experience. Working at The Carle expanded her knowledge of marketing, while solidifying the importance of using a consistent and cohesive voice when representing an institution.
