Traveler's Health Information

If you are planning to travel abroad for study or pleasure, especially to destinations in the developing world seek an appointment with the Health Center.  We suggest you schedule your appointment 3-4 weeks prior to you departure date.  This will allow time to complete laboratory or other testing.  We can assist with:

  • Physical examination, if required by your study abroad program
  • Travel health precautions pertinent to your destination
  • Refills of prescriptions for your regular medications
  • A comprehensive list of required or recommended immunizations

The online Travel Form must be submitted before an appointment can be made. After submitting your travel form, call 413-538-2121, option #1 to set up your appointment. The form must be received 48 hours prior to the appointment.

Travel Immunization Services

Once you have been advised about your travel immunizations, a separate nursing visit is needed for the actual vaccination process. These visits may be scheduled on the same day. The following travel-related vaccination products are available at the Health Center:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Meningococcal Meningitis
  • Tetanus booster
  • Polio booster
  • Typhoid

The following are vaccines for which we see a much lower demand here at MHC, and therefore are not on hand. Students needing these vaccines are referred to either The Traveling Medicine Clinic of Northampton or the Baystate Medical Center Travel Vaccination Service in Springfield.

  • Yellow Fever
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Rabies
