What Preschoolers Taught Me About Teaching
Preschoolers can do anything you believe they can. This summer I worked with children aged three to five on an advanced curriculum at All Aboard Child Education Center in Valhalla, New York. Pre-writing, pre-reading, social skills and independence are fostered there through tools such as daily discussions and matching games. In my position an assistant teacher, I learned the importance of staying focused and patient. I came to appreciate the fact that every child learns/functions differently and has their own set of burdens coming into the classroom. In this panel, I discuss the obstacles I faced in learning to be a teacher but moreover the exceptional actions I witnessed on the part of both students and fellow teachers towards innovative learning both socially and mentally.
