Building Access Changes

Tuesday, March 17, 2020

Good morning,

Beginning at the end of the day today, there will be additional changes to building access in order to support the move to remote operations.

Several buildings that are typically available to faculty, staff and students will close at 4 pm today. This includes the Library, the Art Museum, Abby Chapel, Eliot House, the Cultural Houses, 1 Woodbridge Street, 25 Morgan Street, the Five College Women’s Research Center and the Observatory. LITS will be sending out an email to students about Library resources that will be available online and a survey about connectivity. If you have any questions after receiving the email from LITS, please email helpdesk@mtholyoke.edu

As you are already aware, Kendall closed on Sunday. These buildings will be closed until further notice. Staff who must access these spaces for essential on-campus operations will be given appropriate credentials to enter the buildings. All teaching spaces including laboratories, performance spaces, classrooms are closed to all students.

The Community Center will be open daily. Blanchard Hall will be open from 11 am – 7 pm for resident students, essential staff and faculty. The Dining Commons is transitioning to takeout food only beginning this morning in accordance with guidance from the Governor of Massachusetts. The dining hours and menus are posted here.

All other buildings will remain having doors locked. Staff and faculty who need to come to the campus will have access to their buildings via card access for essential functions.  Students will not have access to these buildings or spaces within the buildings.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we move to remote operations. I know it is a significant change and I appreciate your willingness to act quickly to enact this change for the safety of our community.

Sincerely,

Shannon D. Gurek
Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer
