Cheri Butler

Senior Leadership Giving Officer

Cheri Butler comes to Mount Holyoke from Hampshire College where she was a major and then principal giving officer for fourteen years, traveling often to the Pacific Northwest, Colorado and Northern California. She worked with many donors on meaningful gifts ranging from $10,000 to $4.5 million. Prior to her career in higher education, she spent over two decades in executive roles, managing financial and administrative operations and fundraising for community-based nonprofits. She earned her BS in education from Boston University (by way of all-women’s Goucher College) and a master’s degree in human services management from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. She has lived, worked and raised a family in the Five College community since moving to Northampton from Boston in 1988. She loves music, cooking, kayaking and sailing, hiking mountains and expanding her garden. Butler believes there is no greater privilege than supporting people whose extraordinary generosity improves the future of young lives and the world, and no greater inspiration.
