Investment Banking: Challenges and Opportunities
I interned at FMI Capital Advisors, a boutique investment bank, offering merger and acquisition advisory services for the middle market companies in engineering, construction and clean energy industries. During my internship I performed market research, financial valuations and data analysis. Although it was my first internship in investment banking, I was expected to know the basics of finance upfront. Financial accounting and corporate finance classes I took at Mount Holyoke were very helpful in order to quickly navigate complex financial models. I realized that one of the best aspects of working for a small company is that you often work directly with senior bankers who have spent over 20 years in the industry. Investment banking is a perfect career for anyone who is passionate about financial markets, challenges and opportunities to learn.
