Legal Aid and Beyond
My first year at Mount Holyoke College came to a successful end, having landed a paid internship in Seattle, Washington for the summer. My work at the Legal Aid Office of the Ethiopian Community Center as an executive legal aid assistant was a task more demanding and educational than I had imagined. My days were spent working on legal cases and labor placement. I also tirelessly organized rallies and fundraisers to better a community that was all too close to my heart.I supervised youth volunteer programs and had far more responsibility than I had bargained for. Coming back to Mount Holyoke and sharing my experience with all of you brings my work to a full circle.
