Self-Initiative Leadership: My Experience as a Management Intern

Last summer, I was a management intern for AES World Languages and Cultures Institute, Inc., a non-profit organization with focus on foreign language education based  in Boston. Later, I was given the official title of Associate Director of Operations with the responsibility to manage Development department and support the executive director of the organization. During the first weeks in my internship, I was greatly confused with my role that didn't seem to be clearly defined and didn't receive as much supervision as expected. However, soon I started to shape my own role by initiating projects that would benefit the organization and satisfy my own career aspirations, which turned out to be unique experience. In the presentation, I will discuss what initiatives I took in the internship and what I learned from them.
