MHC ESOL

Academic English is nobody’s native language.

The Mount Holyoke ESOL Program offers courses, programming, and resources to help create a vibrant multilingual academic community at the college. The program is organized around three key goals:

Academic English Support

ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. We provide courses, workshops and other resources for students who do not identify as native speakers of English. See our MHC Commons Site for up-to-date program offerings.

Faculty and Curriculum Development

We deliver pedagogical development workshops, meet for individual course consults, and maintain a resource bank to make the college curriculum effective and accessible. See our MHC Commons Site for up-to-date program offerings.

Language in the Campus Community

How do we make a multilingual Mount Holyoke? We collaborate with faculty staff and students to foster an inclusive approach to language in academia and identify and challenge harmful standard language ideology.
