Keeping the campus safe and free from violence

Wednesday, January 13, 2021

Dear Mount Holyoke community members,

Following the violence at our nation's capital, and as the political unrest across our country continues, we want you to know that the Department of Public Safety and Service is prepared and committed to maintaining a campus safe and free of violence. The College has not and will not tolerate violence of any kind. This commitment is essential to us, so our community members may continue to work freely, study, teach and learn without fear.

We are in constant communication with our local and state partners to assess risk, identify threats and reinforce safety measures already in place. We are also listening to federal partners on lessons learned and will work diligently to ensure our community’s overall safety. We look forward to inaugural events on the 20th of January.

As students return to campus, you will see increased visibility of Public Safety staff who will be here to assist with any concerns and to provide services you may need as you return to on-campus life. To further increase safety, on-campus community members are required to wear a Mount Holyoke lanyard that displays their OneCard. If you see someone on campus without this lanyard or OneCard, please don’t hesitate to contact Public Safety and Service

We would like to wish you all a happy and healthy spring semester.

Sincerely,

Raymond LaBarre
Director, Public Safety and Service
