Documents, Visas and Immigration

The McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives is responsible for advising students and faculty about immigration regulations and procedures. We are here foremost as advisors and advocates for you.

We are also required to report certain information about you to the government, via SEVIS (Student and Exchange-Visitor Information System). This information includes your enrollment status, your address, your major/minor, etc. Therefore, we want to be sure that you understand the rules so that you can make appropriate and informed decisions; we urge you to talk with us at any time if you have questions about immigration regulations and procedures that apply or may apply to you.

The information on our web site covers the most common issues and questions that arise, but please be sure to contact our office directly if you have concerns or questions about your particular circumstances.  You can also check Homeland Security's Study in the States for the latest information.

Please also be aware that regulations can change suddenly and unexpectedly. Our office maintains a listserve through which we send email notifications to all international students about changes in regulations -- be sure to check your Mount Holyoke email account regularly so that you will receive our notices and announcements. Violations of immigration regulations, even relatively minor ones, can have severe consequences, so it is critical for you to understand the rules and abide by them.
