Operating level change as of September 22, 2021

Wednesday, September 22, 2021

On September 22, 2021, Mount Holyoke College’s operation level will move from “semester launch” to “operating level one” — normal COVID-19 operations. Please visit and bookmark the COVID-19 dashboard, for updated information on the College’s operating levels.  This change to our campus operating level reflects the low number of cases on campus and the College community’s commitment to the required protocols. Operating thresholds are reviewed weekly and, when there is a necessary change, we will inform the community.

Operating level one — also referred to as “green” — provides students, faculty and staff continued access to buildings, in-person classes, resources and programming on campus. Additionally, those who live, take classes or work on campus must continue all precautions, including participating in COVID-19 testing and complying with community protocols and compacts.

Other updates:

  • The indoor mask mandate has been extended through the month of October. Please see the Health and Safety page for mask guidance.
  • At this time, campus buildings remain closed to visitors and guests with the exception of those on Admission tours and guests at Willits-Hallowell. We anticipate reviewing the visitor policy for potential modifications before the end of September. As a reminder, Five College students and faculty as well as approved vendors are allowed in College buildings.
  • Due to the higher levels of COVID-19 transmission in the surrounding area and in Massachusetts, we recommend that community members utilize care and heightened awareness when leaving campus. To that end, we strongly recommend members of the Mount Holyoke community practice campus protocols around mask wearing indoors when off campus.
  • The asymptomatic testing program for students and employees will continue throughout the fall semester.

Thank you for your continued compliance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Your personal diligence makes a difference for the entire community.
